POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the senior financial professional and is responsible for the financial health of the sorority and thus responsible for tracking cash flow, financial planning and analyzing the sorority’s financial strengths and weaknesses, proposing financial strategic execution. The CFO’s responsibilities also include: financial planning and analysis; risk management; obtaining funding; ensuring balances for revenues, expenses, and investments; attesting to the accuracy of all financial reports; and collaborating with National President and Board of Directors on strategy. The CFO oversees all compliance with regulatory authorities and recognition for contracts and grants. The CFO is expected to employ performance metrics in the operational and strategic financial management of the sorority’s assets.

The CFO will oversee all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget preparation and management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, fund allocation and the securing of new funding. Additionally, the CFO will report directly the Executive Director for the operations of the sorority and work with the National President for accounting and strategic policy. The CFO will work closely with National Treasurer, Chair of the National Finance, Chair of the National Audit and Corporate Compliance Committee in developing and implementing the financial strategic and operational goals for the Sorority. The CFO will be responsible for providing support to this subset as well as their respective committees.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops and ensures the consistent implementation of policies and procedures that impact the financial operations of the organization.
• Develops and utilizes forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
• Oversees short and long-term operational and capital budgets, budgetary planning execution and cost management in alignment with organization’s strategic plan, forecast and recommend adjustments to future projections and budgets especially as the organization considers sponsorships, grants and other revenue streams to include a retail component. • Provides the National President, National Treasurer and Executive Director with reliable and timely information on the fiscal conditions of the organization, to include month-end financial and variance reports.
• Oversees all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
• Develops and oversees a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to ensure sufficient internal controls are in place and enforced.
• Oversees cash, investment, and asset management; making recommendations regarding strategies for short and long-term investment instruments to achieve desired returns.
• Designs and implements finance related risk management with the oversight of and accountability to the Audit and Corporate Compliance Committee. This includes maintaining internal controls that mitigate risk, conserve assets, reduce unnecessary expenses and maintain the integrity of the financial systems, controls and policies.
• Maintains and oversees grant and cash management, tax preparations, and maintains compliance and reporting systems for internal auditors and the IRS.
• Engages in the use and oversight of all customer relationship management and financial management information systems tools (e.g., iMIS, Sage, and NetSuite).
• Participates in all meetings of the National Finance Committee, providing budget data, fund balances and expenditures.
• Develop performance metrics for strategic financial activities, along with assessing organizational performance against both the annual budget and Delta’s long-term strategy.
• Directs a staff of professional/technical employees, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation and the building of an effective team dynamic.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
• Advanced or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related degree from an accredited college or university.
• A minimum of (8) years of accounting, finance or related experience.
• Proven track record of fiscal management, asset leveraging, strategic planning, budgeting, computerized accounting and inventory systems, financial reporting and analyses, investment and cash management.
• Ability to translate financial concepts to – and effectively collaborate with – programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
• Knowledgeable of relative statutory requirements.
• Possess one or more of the following credentials: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
• Ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Possess good stewardship in the interest of the organization.
• Able to manage shifting short-term and long-term priorities at the same time.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multi-phased projects with precision and flexibility.
• Participate in the development and implementation of policies and documents that govern corporate and chapter financial and activity.
• Possess demonstrated business acumen, proven negotiation skills, strategic leadership ability, creative problem solving and interpersonal, communication skills.
• Evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the leadership of a dynamic organization.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines, potential long hours, and ability to work weekends during peak seasons while exercising tact and diplomacy.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Creativity and experience funding activities that cover costs and generate operating margins.
• Membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is preferred, but not mandatory. •
Annual travel during summer months for National Convention and Regional Conferences required.
• Relocation assistance not available. Must reside within a 50-mile radius of National Headquarters within six (6) months of start date.
• Proof of comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination required.
