Divine Nine Meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris

WASHINGTON – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated met with Vice President Kamala Harris, on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2021, as part of the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s visit to the White House. During this historic meeting, the Vice President discussed issues of importance to the African American community with leaders of the nine fraternities and sororities that comprise the National Pan-Hellenic Council, affectionately known as the “Divine Nine.”

Founded on the principles of political awareness and involvement, Delta Sigma Theta has long believed that civic engagement extends beyond the general election cycle. Today’s meeting underscored those principles while allowing the concerns of the nation’s largest voting bloc to be heard.

“Over one year ago, members of Delta Sigma Theta along with our brothers and sisters of the Divine Nine mobilized in great numbers to get out the vote,” said National President & CEO Beverly E. Smith. “Historically, the Divine Nine has been called upon to lead the call for change and to hold those same elected officials accountable. Today, we are using the collective power in our voice to continue this effort on behalf of the communities we serve and represent.”

Leaders Representing Delta Sigma Theta included:

National President & CEO Beverly E. Smith

Shavon-Arline Bradley, Co-Chair of the National Social Action Commission

Rhonda Briggins, Co-Chair of the National Social Action Commission
